The Western has always seemed to be the dominant of the two leagues in the NBA over the past few years. However, with the West teams getting older and the East teams getting younger it seems like the disparity is starting to become more even. With that being said, the West still have some good teams including the back-to-back NBA Champion L.A. Lakers. This how I see the West breaking down this season.
1. Lakers
2. Mavericks
3. Thunder
4. Nuggets
5. Suns
6. Spurs
7. Jazz
8. Grizzlies
9. Clippers
10. Rockets
11. Blazers
12. Warriors
13. T’Wolves
14. Kings
15. Hornets
Team Notes:
Grizzlies- Memphis has put together a nice team this year and should be able to sneak into the 8th seed in the West. They have legit scorers in Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, and Zach Randolph. Marc Gasol continues to improve and is a solid rebounded and defender. He doesn’t have the post moves like his brother Pau but is a stronger force down low. The area where there is question is PG with Mike Conley who hasn’t seemed to develop like they would have hoped. Grizzlies are hoping that the #2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet is going to have a better 2nd year than his rookie year where he was actually sent down to the NBDL. They are also hoping that rookie guard Xavier Henry will have a big impact on the team this year.
Clippers- The Clippers have also assembled a nice group of young talented players and barring injury may make a run and getting into the playoffs this year. With Eric Gordan, Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, Chris Kaman, Randy Foye, and Baron Davis the Clippers look to make a move this year. As long as they stay healthy, Clippers could be a semi-force this year.
